An 18 year-old woman who was hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, after she hit the complainant in her face causing a wound which bled, was ordered to pay $25,000 or serve six months' imprisonment. She is Chanice Golbourne, of a Kingston address, charged with unlawful wounding. The court heard that on the day of the incident, the complainant asked the accused to make a contribution on an $18,000 light bill, however, the woman did not. A representative from the power company told the complainant to turn off the breaker and when the accused discovered she had no light, an argument developed between herself and the complainant. The complainant admitted that during the dispute she threw an object at Golbourne after she hurled several derogatory statements at her. Minutes later, the accused hit the complainant in her face causing a wound to the forehead which bled. Golbourne was ordered to pay the fine. |
