Mention date set for alleged fraudster

An April 3 mention date was set in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday, as video footage into an incident involving a woman, who allegedly took money fraudulently, was outstanding and will be expected by then.

Charged with conspiracy to defraud is Megan McNaughton of a Kingston address.

The allegations are that on February 8 and 9, an individual used a fraudulent credit card to make a purchase of clothing and accessories at a clothing store for which McNaughton had been employed.

During the first visit to the store, the individual was overcharged $9,300 and was to be credited on his next purchase. However, the individual had not been credited but a portion of the money had been allegedly given to McNaughton in a corner of the store.

Due diligence was not observed and McNaughton was later charged. Video footage of the incident is to be submitted on the next mention date.
