Andre Williams, STAR Writer

The Clarendon police have launched a manhunt for a man believed to be a former JDF soldier following reports that he killed his mother-in-law and shot his common-law wife on Sunday night in the parish, THE STAR understands.

Information reaching THE STAR is that 44-year-old fashion designer Maxine Ferron of Bryant Hill, Clarendon, was shot and killed at her home. Her daughter, who is believed to be the common-law wife of the suspect, was also shot and injured after she was allegedly chased.

The incident reportedly took place at about 9:45 p.m.

Loud explosions were heard by neighbours who later summoned the police.

According to police reports, Ferron was involved in a dispute with a man who allegedly shot her before turning the gun on her daughter, who was shot in the abdomen while she tried to escape.

The females were reportedly rushed to the hospital where Ferron was pronounced dead and her daughter admitted in serious condition.

THE STAR gathered that Ferron's husband was also gun butted during the incident, however, no serious injury has been reported.

When THE STAR contacted the Clarendon police our news team was told that the accused man was still on the run as the police intensified their investigation, and sought to establish a motive for the attack.

Speaking with THE STAR yesterday, Head of the Clarendon police Division, SSP Micheal Bailey confirmed that the suspect currently on the run is a former JDF soldier.
