GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer Residents of Glenco Meadows, near Clandon in Manchester, are now benefiting from a $38m road project. The project has been long overdue, as the road is said to be an alternative for that which links the town of Spalding in Clarendon with the Manchester community, especially when there are accidents along the stretch from Spalding to Clandon. Junior minister for Works Richard Azan told THE STAR the project, which started in November, last year, was more than a mile long and, upon completion, could help ease traffic congestion being experienced in Spaldings. Azan noted that it will also make trafficking easier for persons driving to the Knox Complex of Schools and Spalding High School, as that road also leads to those institutions. He added that the work, undertaken by Build Rite Construction, should be completed next month. Azan said the road has already been graded, setting up a proper surface for it to be chipped and sprayed. Kerbs and channels have been constructed to assist with getting water off the roadway whenever it rains. |
