Fisherman's body found

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

The relatives of a St Catherine fisherman whose body was found floating yesterday morning are appealing for the return of his boat and gears.

Dead is Delroy McBean, 52-year-old of Old Harbour, St Catherine.

"On Sunday, we found the boat and then yesterday everything went missing, but we are thankful that the body is found," Dalrick McBean said.

The son said his father, a 32-year-old veteran fisherman, left to do fishing on Friday, February 22.

When he failed to return as is customary, a search was launched and a report made to the Old Harbour Bay police.

Dalrick said that during a search on Sunday, his father's body was seen, but it soon vanished.

About 8 o'clock yesterday the body was found floating near Port Esquivel.

When it was retrieved, a hand and a foot were observed missing.

An on-the-spot post-mortem resulted in the body being buried immediately.

McBean was buried at the Old Harbour Bay cemetery.

The police are conducting further investigations to see if there is foul play.
