26-y-o gunned down in Standpipe

A twenty-six-year-old man is now dead after he was gunned down yesterday afternoon in the community of Standpipe in Liguanea, St Andrew.

According to residents, about 5 p.m., the deceased, known to residents as 'Grung Ghad', went to a shop in the community to purchase items.

It was reported that shortly after placing his order, he was approached by a man of dark complexion clad in full black who shot him multiple times.

A resident who told our news team that he was at the local betting shop when the incident occurred said, "Mi did deh inna di horse racing shop den all of a sudden mi hear 'bout dozen or more shots, then when we come an look we see one man inna full suit a black run guh up the road and guh inna one white car."

Police, who were in the area on patrol, rushed the injured man who resided at Cedar Valley Road in the community to the University Hospital of the West Indies, where he reportedly succumbed to his injuries.

The reasons for the shooting are unknown.

The police are continuing their investigations.
