STETHS claim two in a row

ISSA/Grace Headley Cup champions St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) made it two wins in a row following a 10-wicket win over Godfrey Stewart in Santa Cruz on Tuesday.

STETHS won the toss and immediately inserted the Westmoreland side, who could only muster 55. The wickets were shared between national representatives leg-spinner Rushane Manning (4 for 9) and fast bowler Marquino Mindley (4 for 23).

Openers Odane McCatty and Terry Holness then made light work of the target.

seven wickets

The demolition job was similar to that achieved against Petersfield, the second West-moreland team based in Zone C. Petersfield were bowled out for 56 in 19 overs. Manning snared 5 for 10 runs, while pacer Devon Spencer got 4 for 23. Holness smashed 28 as STETHS romped home by seven wickets.

Most of the teams in Zone C, which Munro lead, have played at least four games. However, STETHS's campaign has been dogged by scheduling conflicts due to the athletic season and rain. Their next match will be against Black River on Friday, followed by Maggotty and Munro. Coach Clive Ledgister told Star Sports he is not particularly worried at this stage, as the hope is to win the tosses in the remaining games and bowl.

"In terms of the zone we are behind, but the aim is to finish all the games and we will be okay."
