Female chomped during dispute

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A woman who bit off a piece of another woman's hand during a fight at a police station in St Catherine was fined $100,000 or six months hard labour recently.

Kerene Allman of Spanish Town, St Catherine, was before the courts on a charge of assault occasioning grievious bodily harm and disorderly conduct. Allman was in court along with Camille Ellis who was charged with disorderly conduct.

When the matter came up in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court Allman plead guilty.

Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green then ordered that she pay a fine or serve time in prison if she failed to do so.

Ellis was fined $3,000 or 30 days hard labour.

Allegations are that on February 3 about 11:45 a.m., Allman was making a report against Ellis at the Portmore police station. Ellis walked in shortly after and said she also had a report to make against Allman.

She was then attacked by Allman who rained blows on her.

During the squabble, Allman bit out a piece of flesh from Ellis' hand.

Both women were subsequently charged by Constable Kevin Thompson.
