|||||
A man accused of stealing a Blackberry phone from a female while she was participating in a fund-raising effort in Half-Way-Tree, St Andrew, will stand trial on May 27. Allegations are that on February 23, Marvin Edwards stole a Blackberry Curve from the complainant while she was part of a fund-raising cheerleading group. The court heard that Edwards allegedly stole the phone which was in a blue case. A witness testified that she saw when Edwards committed the act. She said, "your honour, I saw him take up the phone and another bag same time and walk away." Edwards plead not guilty and offered the court an explanation. He said, "your honour I did not take up any phone, I was searched by a police team and then released ... no phone was found. After I went back to the area, I was confronted again by the police who arrested me because someone claim they saw me with the phone. Your honour I am no thief you can ask dat policewoman over there, she knows me well." Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey gave Edwards a bail extension. |
