Man shot in altercation

An altercation between two licensed firearm holders in Gutters, St Elizabeth, some time before 11 on Tuesday morning, has left one man nursing gunshot wounds and the other in custody.

According to the Santa Cruz police, the driver of the Rav4 reportedly drew his weapon and used it to beat the bus driver. It is reported that he replaced his weapon and was going for the gun once more, when the bus driver, who is also a licensed firearm owner, allegedly went for his weapon. Shortly after explosions were heard.

According to one taxi driver who was on the scene, the disagreement took place between a bus driver and the driver of a Rav4.

"The bus man must be overtake him further up the road, must be up a Spur Tree, and the bus man stop a Gutters now fi pick up a passenger, either pick up or drop off. Mi never really see what happen a the front cause me did park behind him, cause me just come on the stand, and then mi see this shine jeep come and park up at the side a the bus," a man on the scene said.

It is reported that the man was shot once in the chest and taken to the Accident and Emergency Unit at the Mandeville Hospital where he was being stabilised to be transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

After leaving the hospital, the driver of the bus went to the Mandeville Police Station.
