Woman fined for unlawful wounding

A 23-year-old woman who was charged with unlawful wounding was ordered to pay $25,000 or serve six months' imprisonment, after she stabbed the complainant on her arm.

She is Alicia Harding, who is of a Corporate Area address.

The court heard from the accused that she and the complainant were in an altercation which resulted in a child which Harding had in her arms falling to the ground.

However, the complainant told the court that Harding has been calling her names and that the two women ended up in a dispute with both of them tugging each other's hair. The dispute was soon parted and the complainant told Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey that she felt when Harding stabbed her.

Harding was subsequently ordered to pay the fine.
