Facebook abuzz after ... Woman attempts to draw money from atm with Magna card
Diandra Grandison, STAR Writer

Social media is currently in a frenzy, following a Facebook update made by a University of the West Indies, Mona campus student, about a peculiar occurrence at one of the campus' ATM machines.

The student who goes by the moniker Cocoa told THE STAR that recently, she along with friends were on campus and went to use the National Commercial Bank's ATM machine.

She said while waiting, she noticed its occupant was taking an exceedingly long time.

Cocoa said, after about 10 minutes, a woman who appeared to be in her mid 30s, stepped out of the machine and quietly asked for her assistance.

"When I went inside the machine, the lady asked me how many zeros are in 6,000, two or three, to which I responded three," she recalled. "She started to press the zeros and I was monitoring her to make sure she was doing it correctly, but after she did, the machine said 'error card not supported' and the receipt also said the same thing."

She said the woman appeared to be illiterate, because she had difficulties understanding the content of the receipt and so she had to read it to the bewildered woman. To her surprise, the card which she originally assumed was a debit card, was actually a Magna Rewards card.

Cocoa said she gently informed the woman, who appeared to be on the brink of tears, that the card could not be used. The woman responded "but a dah card yah him give me."

Cocoa said the woman told her it was her 'man' who gave her the card to make the $6,000 withdrawal.

The Facebook post, which received some 335 likes and over 230 shares, has been the topic of much discussion on the social-networking site.

One user commented "no sah ... she nuh bright and the man know, so it neva even tek skill fi clown she ... she is a clown naturally ... it sad smh."
