Court date set for preliminary inquiry in murder case
Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer

An April 19 date has been arrived at for the continuation of the preliminary inquiry in the Suzan Smith murder trial.

Smith is being tried for the death of her sister Stacey-Ann Smith.

When the matter came up in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, the father of the accused and the deceased gave his testimony.

He said both daughters lived like normal siblings would have, with the occasional argument. But he was not sure what went wrong. The father said he was shocked to find out that the situation had turned deadly.

The court led evidence that, on February 6 last year, Stacey-Ann's body was dug from concrete by police personnel.

Investigation revealed that Stacey-Ann was hit on the head with a blunt object and her body buried in the yard.

Suzan was later charged with murder by Detective Sergeant Llewellyn Madden of the St Catherine South police.

Smith has been in custody since the incident.
