Rasbert Turner, PORTMORE STAR Writer A Portmore resident who allegedly shot another man in his head three years ago was convicted in the Gun Court Thursday. He is Dave Brooks, a 23-year-old labourer from Waterford in the municipality. Brooks was found guilty when he appeared before High Court judge, Justice Donald McIntosh. His appearance in court arose from an August 21, 2010, incident. Brooks is said to have shot the complainant in the back of his head while in Waterford. The injured man was rushed to hospital by the police where he was admitted. Brooks ran away from the area, and an investigation was launched by the police. He was captured a year later during an operation conducted by the St Catherine Street Crime Unit in Waterford. He was then charged with shooting with intent by Detective Corporal Oneil Buckle. Brooks, who was defended by attorney-at-law Peter Champagnie, was remanded and is to be sentenced next Thursday. |
