31-y-o dies after robbery attempt |

Investigators in St Catherine North Division said robbery is believed to be the motive in the murder of a man in the parish yesterday. Dead is Sean Powell, a 31-year-old labourer of Villa Nova in Spanish Town, St Catherine. Reports are that about 1 p.m., police responded to a report of robbery. Upon reaching the Villa Nova Housing Scheme, Powell was seen at the side of the road. He was bleeding profusely from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital by the police where he succumbed to injuries received. Police sources told The Star that it is believed that Powell was robbed and shot by his attackers. The St Catherine Major Investigation Task Force is probing the matter. - R.T.
