Huge turnout for Pink Panther's Manchester Awards |
|||||
Reggae artiste Chuck Fender delivered a 'fiery' performance.
Over 100 awards were issued at the star-studied Manchester Awards, held last Saturday at Studio 47 Club in Mandeville. The awards, now in its fourth year, also featured fantastic performances from several established reggae and dancehall artistes, much to the delight of the jam-packed crowd. Individuals from various sectors, who contribute to entertainment in and around Manchester, were recognised and awarded for their efforts, whilst a number of honorary awards also were being issued. The categories ranged from music producing, selecting, clubs, stores, recording music to event organisation. The event was organised by veteran sound systems operator Pink Panther, from the Black Kat sound. Despite its reasonably late start, the event was a huge success. The incredible performances came from the likes of I Octane, Chuck Fender, Bugle, Jahmiel, Macka Diamond, Kashu Man, Nesbeth, Sub Konshus artistes Delus and Darrio, Rae Tae, Lee'Tal and a host of up-and-coming acts from Pink Panther's 5 Star Camp Production. Prior to the artistes' performance segment, the patrons got valuable entertainment from sound operators Niney Badness, Black Kat, DJ Sherlock, Camp Vybz, Black Love, Yellow Skoolaz, Rasta Yaad, Reptile Bling and Bass Odyssey. Pink Panther said he was more than satisfied with the outcome of the event and has already begun the planning for the fifth staging, which he has promised to be even bigger. "Everything went according to plan. I am very happy with how the event turned out. The support was fantastic from the artistes, selectors and patrons," he said. The Manchester Awards was sponsored by Taj-Vaughn Johnson's newly built website www.PantaSon.com. |
