A welder who has been accused of slashing another man's throat over his bicycle was remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday. Charged with murder is 28-year-old Andrew Matthews, from a Kingston 14 address. He is to return to court on April 22, as the post-mortem report is outstanding. Dead is Oshane Kerr, a fish vendor from Albert Street, Kingston 14. Allegations are that Kerr went to 11 Albert Street where the accused lives with his girlfriend and picked up a bicycle that belonged to the accused. It is alleged that Kerr left with the bicycle, and returned to the accused man's home where an argument developed. The court heard that when Kerr returned to Matthew's home without the bicycle, he was interrogated by the accused man's girlfriend about the whereabouts of the bicycle. It is alleged that the accused who overheard the conversation between his girlfriend and Kerr, then intervened and an argument started. Further allegations are that the accused pulled a knife and stabbed Kerr in his neck, before slashing his throat. It is reported that Kerr who was injured, ran from the yard and was later helped to hospital where he died. The court heard that the Denham Town police had to put out a bulletin that the accused man was being sought. |
