While many were preparing for the final day of the Boys and Girls' Athletic Championships the next day, others were busy getting on bad at Bacchanal Fridays. Undeterred by the scanty venue, patrons slowly made their way into the new Mas Camp to 'wine up' themselves. With bars at almost every corner of the venue, nothing could dampen the spirit of those who came out to enjoy soca music. Although DJ Sanjay played a diverse set of hip hop and dancehall, it was the authentic soca music that got the patrons to gyrate. With a mixture of old soca songs, including Love and Unity by Alison Hinds, and It's Carnival by Destra Garcia, Sanjay then moved into more recent songs, including Party Hard by Donaeo, Wotless by Kes and Palance by JW and Blaze. daggering movements It was, however, Bunji Garlin's Differentology (Ready for the Road) that caused a frenzy with patrons. Patrons mixed traditional wining with daggering movements whenever this song was played. An impromptu performance by Macka Diamond was also in the works and while she did get a few forwards for some of her hits, her performance did not connect with the patrons. Macka Diamond delivered her hits, including Cowfoot, Hula Hoop, Bun Him, Forty And Fabulous, along with her latest release Dye Dye. As the soca fête approached the official 3 a.m. lock-off point, Sanjay kept the vibes going while patrons danced to the very last word. In the last few minutes of the party, the pace got slower, with some patrons making their way to the exit.
