Keznamdi ready for the world

Keznamdi - Contributed

Rising reggae singer Keznamdi's sound is as unique as his name.

The singer, who is not only a fusion of rich musical history, but also scholarly prowess, said his love for music has always been innate.

"This is not a choice or hobby for me, music chose me. It's a way of life and the only thing I have ever known," explain a passionate Keznamdi.

Keznamdi, who spent his early years touring the world with his parents, lead singers of the international group, Chakula, honed his craft under their careful watch. He said he remembers countless nights falling asleep to the soothing strums of his father's guitar, or hanging out backstage with his sisters, Kamila and Kelissa, McDonald at reggae concerts.

Not surprising, he recorded his first song at five, Mix A Color, an educational song, inspired by his mother's background in early childhood education at Harvard University.

Already a natural performer and crowd pleaser on stage, he jumped at the opportunity to perform Mix A Color at his mom's album release tours for her popular children's album, Save The World which became a viral hit in primary schools across Jamaica.

Tanzania

As a teenager, Keznamdi and his family moved to Tanzania for three years while he completed high school in Ethiopia. His multifarious musical sound is, therefore, a direct product of his diverse and well-travelled background - a sweet blend of reggae, dancehall, R&B and rap.

However, it wasn't until he attended St Mary's College in Northern California, that Keznamdi's career started to catapult.

Keznamni has managed to continuously craft an eclectic blend of melodies and conscious lyrics, in his singles, I Don't Wanna and Weekend, from his upcoming debut, EP Bridging The Gap.

Messages

In addition, the icon-in-the-making also has upcoming singles with some of reggae's most promising stars including Chronixx with My Love For You and Darkness, featuring Kabaka Pyramid.

"My music is a message and everyone of my song dem have a purpose. You need fi just sit back and relax or stand up and jam, whatever you are moved to do. Just tek a listen and experience it for yourself and, more important than anything else, digest my message," he said.

To ensure his music continues to reach a wide crosssection of fans, Keznamdi has partnered with Higher Intelligence, LLC., which acts as both a record label and management team.

Fans can, therefore, look out for Keznamdi with a string of solid hits while on tour across the USA and Jamaica this year and follow him on twitter at www.twitter.com/Keznamdi.
