Father Ken celebrates birthday in style

Anthony Minott, Star Writer

Scores of family, friends, well-wishers and representatives from Government and corporate Jamaica turned out to celebrate with businessman Lester 'Ken' Crooks at his birthday party at Ken's Wildflower Sports Bar and Lounge recently.

The birthday party, which was sponsored by Guinness, was held alongside a customer appreciation event for his loyal customers, where food was on the house.

Member of Parliament for South East St Catherine Colin Fagan gave kudos to his long-time friend on his birthday. Also giving support were Mayor of Portmore George Lee and Arnaldo Brown, MP for East Central St Catherine.

Manley Horne, from St Elizabeth, took the trek from the rural parish to support his friend of many years.

Other persons who turned out to celebrate with Father Ken were Brian Pengelley, sales director at Guinness, and representatives from Red Stripe and Red Bull.

Charles Simpson, a former president of the Portmore Metropolitan Cricket League, and the current president Courtney Francis, agreed that Father Ken had been a part of Portmore's fledgling entertainment business for over 30 years and has a fan base in a number of parishes in Jamaica and overseas.

Here are some highlights from the event.
