Beenie Man

International recording superstar Beenie Man is booked solid for the next two months with shows which will see him criss-crossing continents with several gigs in North America, South America and the Caribbean.

The artiste, known as The Doctor by his legion of loyal fans, will embark on an intensive two-week tour in April of the United States (US) where he will perform in several clubs.

The tour kicks off on April 9 with Beenie Man performing in Jacksonville, after which he will jet to Tampa, Minnesota and Newbury as he cranks up promotion for his upcoming King in Control: Dweet Again album.

"The EP is coming soon; we are counting on the success of the Dweet Again single, which is getting a lot of airplay on Irie Jam and other stations in the US. We are presently in discussion with several major labels to distribute the album, and the tour will help to energise Beenie Man's substantial fan base in the US," Blue Smith, Beenie Man's manager, said.

The stateside tour climaxes on April 19. The EP's lead single, Dweet Again, released on the Chase Millz-Jah Snowcone label, topped several local and overseas charts.

new singles

In the meantime, Beenie Man will be releasing an armada of new singles including the radio-friendly Hottest Man Alive and the saucy Greatest Gallis, featuring fellow dancehall superstar Sean Paul.

A video for Hottest Man Alive has been released and is in rotation on RE TV, HYPE TV, CVM and MD TV.

"We have been getting great feedback to the single, Hottest Man Alive which was directed by Ruption Di Boss. We will also be releasing a new video, shot by Roadblock for the Greatest Gallis song. These songs have been getting a lot of support on local radio stations, so things look great for the summer," Smith said.

Beenie Man will be busy this Easter weekend as he is slated to headline the fifth staging of the Portmore Seafood Festival on Easter Monday at the Greater Portmore football field.

Beenie Man will perform during the intermission of a netball test match between the Sunshine Girls and the third-ranked English Roses on April 3. He will also headline a show alongside fellow superstars Mavado and Lady Saw on April 20.

The Dweet Again star has several shows in the Caribbean and Central America, including Panama on March 30, Cayman on April 26 and Guyana on May 4. He is one of the main acts on the Westmoreland Curry Festival on April 28, after which he will head stateside for a show in New York on May 25 and then the annual 'Best of the Best' show in Miami on May 26.

"Beenie Man has been working non-stop for the past couple of months. He did Costa Rica last week, and this week, he heads to Panama. Beenie just a 'dweet again'," Smith said.
