Ghetto Youths Crew promotes album in north america

The Ghetto Youths Crew along with brothers Damian 'Jr. Gong', Stephen 'Ragga' and Julian Marley have been blazing a trail in North America as they promote the album, Ghetto Youths International Presents 'Set Up Shop Vol.1'.

The crew has made their presence felt at shows in Hawaii, Washington, Oregon and California from June 14 through to July 2.

Jr. Gong and the Ghetto Youths Crew, including Christopher Ellis, Jo Mersa and Black-Am-I, began the tour at a crowded venue at the Maui Arts and Cultural Centre (MACC) in Kahului, Hawaii. Kahului was in for a treat as the Crew delivered dynamic sets in their various styles. Black-Am-I and Christopher Ellis gave soulful performances, setting the stage for the headliner, Grammy Award-winning reggae artiste, Jr. Gong, who did not disappoint as he delivered an energetic and powerful set.

In an interview with Examiner.com, Jr Gong revealed his fondness for Hawaii. "Hawaii was the first place to embrace my music and the first time I performed in Hawaii was the most memorable. We filled up 9,000 seats. It was sold out," he said about his performance with brother Julian.

Julian and Stephen Marley joined the rest of the Crew on Wednesday, June 19 at Marymoor Park in Redmond, Washington.

Stephen recently released his single Bongo Nyah, featuring, Jr. Gong and Spragga Benz. Later this year, he plans to release a follow-up to his 2012 Grammy Award-winning album Revelation Part 1: The Root of Life titled Revelation Part 2: The Fruit of Life.

Fans flocked to ticket outlets in anticipation of The Crew at Belly Up in Solana Beach, California, on June 25, 26 and July 2. The venue was sold out weeks in advance for all three shows.

Set Up Shop is a 14-track compilation featuring the talented GYI artistes including Black-Am-I, Christopher Ellis, Joseph 'Jo Mersa' and Daniel 'Bambaataa' Marley as well as the Marley brothers. The album, which was released in February, hit #1 on the Billboard Reggae Album chart and iTunes Reggae Album Chart in the United States and Japan as well as the # 2 spot in the United Kingdom.
