I've been proving myself since 15 - Bolt

Bolt

World's fastest man, Usain Bolt, has challenged those that doubt his amazing exploits in the sport of track and field have been achieved without performance enhancing substances to take a look at his long and enviable record as a sprinter.

"How long have people been following Usain Bolt?" the sprinter asked journalists at a press conference ahead of the London Diamond League.

"If you've been following me since 2002, you would know I've been doing phenomenal things since I was 15," he added.

The 26-year-old has once again found himself at the centre of attention after a series of doping scandal rocked the sport in recent months. Among them have been the sprinter's compatriots Veronica Campbell-Brown; Sherone Simpson; and former world's fastest man, Asafa Powell. American record holder and joint-second world's fastest man, Tyson Gay - the man that was expected to be the double world record holder's main challenge at IAAF World Championships in Moscow in a month's time - was also among those returning positive tests.

"I was the youngest person to win the world juniors. I ran the world youth record at 17. I've broken

every record there is in every event I've ever done. For me, I've proven myself since I was 15. I'm just living out my dream now. I was always going to be great."

Bolt stressed that it was too early to judge in the case of all athletes that have returned adverse analytical findings so far but also cautioned that athletes had to be careful and vigilant when it comes to the issue of performance enhancing substances.

"It was surprising, definitely, but there are a lot of

details left to be discussed. I'm just sitting and waiting on the results. There are a lot of things that haven't been done yet," Bolt said.

"In life you learn to be responsible. You have to be very careful as an athlete because there are a lot of things on the banned list.

"You have to keep up to date all the time. That's why you need a team to help you keep up with all those types of things."
