JDK Records artiste Tuffy Melody, believes thetime has come for him to stake his claim as one of the best lover's rock voices of his generation. He has carved out an enviable reputation as an energetic performer with brilliant voice and sincere, urgent lyrics.
Now that he has a proper managementstructure, Tuffy Melody is finally on the fast track to the stardom he has always craved.
"Right now, JDK Records ah manage the ting, over the years, I never had a proper management structure and that hold back my career, and now mi have a home, and a management team, people can continue to expect the best from Tuffy Melody, but now mi have a stronger backative," he said.
There are plans to shoot a video for his single, Better Must Come for JDK Records, which is from Canada.
"There is a video in the pipeline, because the song have a vibe inna the streets, it nah get no huge airplay but people accept it because it is an original song with a positive message that we all want, everybody always say better must come," he said.
He has also done a cover of Amazing Grace for JDK Records, and a Dennis Brown remake, If You Want My Loving alongside Danny English.
Tuffy Melody wants to be known as more than just a journeyman in reggae musicand this could be his best shot at hitting mainstream.
Christened Isaacs Roberts, hegrew up in the Whitfield Town area of Kingston. He developed a strong love for music in his childhood while singing on theSkitson Sunday School choir.Impressed by hismelodious voice,his friends dubbed him 'Tuffy Melody'. While attending Greenwich All Age School, hewas oftenchosen tosing at all events held at school and his notorietygrew as he performed at community events.
He entered the popular Tastee Talent contest where he became a big crowd favourite and later placed second in the grand finale. Tuffy Melody's successmade him a legend in his hometown community and it only fuelled his ambition to become a professional singer.
Tuffy worked hard and carved out thehit singles,Universal Love on the Green Peas Label and I Work on the Gardobrix rhythm for Trensetta Productions. He has also recorded other songs such as Can't Stop Us, a combination with hitmaker Danny English.
Recently, he wasselected as one of the artistes to be featured on a compilation album being produced by Southcoast Music out of Florida.He has also appeared on a compilation produced by Mr Bessman on which hecontributed the songs Betterman, an original song and a cover of Delroy Wilson's Cool Operator.
