What started out as an ordinary day for persons present at the Port Antonio courthouse at Bryans Bay, Portland, turned tragic shortly after 11:30 a.m. following the sudden death of a complainant.

Police sources say that 66-year-old Kenneth Walsh, a jeweller and jewellery store operator, collapsed and died outside the courtroom - during a circuit court session approximately 11:40 a.m. The tragedy was witnessed by several persons.

According to the police, Walsh was reportedly sitting in courtroom number two, awaiting his case to be called up, when persons observed him fidgeting and sweating profusely during one of the sessions.

They police say Walsh reportedly exited the courtroom shortly after, but not before he was observed staggering and appeared to be breathing heavily.

In a matter of seconds, following his exit, screams were heard coming from the outside, and when the police who were inside went to investigate, the man was seen lying on the ground - clutching his left breast, while frothy substance was observed coming out of his mouth.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital by a police team, but was pronounced dead shortly after by doctors, who reportedly indicated that the man may have died from a heart attack.
