$15,000 fine for food dispute with lesbian cousin
A man who has been accused of assaulting his cousin in a dispute over food was fined $15,000 or six months in prison, when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Thursday.

He is David Stewart who has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

Stewart told the court that he and his cousin have been at odds from the moment he disapproved of her involvement in lesbian relations.

The accused told the court that the complainant ate his food on the day of the incident, and was not apologetic about it.

It is alleged that an argument developed, during which the complainant was hit in her face. The matter was subsequently reported to the police.

"Your Honour, di woman eat out mi food and a give mi argument and all approach mi with machete. A chop she did want to chop me. She is a lesbian and she nuh stop carry in her woman friend dem," Stewart told the court.
