Tessanne wows again

Tessanne Chin

Long before Tessanne Chin took The Voice stage, Jamaicans were gearing up for a 'Top four party'.

With fans crowding into popular spaces such as Usain Bolt's Tracks and Records and the Chris Gayle-owned Triple Century to watch the show, fans were definitely in team Tessanne mode.

Tessanne, who belted her way into the top six after a tense results show last week, once again wowed with her vocals.

With each contestant performing two songs this week, Tessanne's first performance was close to home as coach Adam Levine chose Bob Marley's Redemption Song.

Dealing with mixed emotions before taking the stage, Tessanne stated that the song was a very important one.

"Jamaica is a country of extremes. We are a resilient people ... it's very important to me and to my people and I want to get this right,"she said.

standing ovation

And getting it right she did. Chin stole the show with her mind-blowingly soulful, tear-jerking rendition of the song and was once again rewarded with a standing ovation from Levine as well as audience members.

"We all know how good you are as a vocalist...I was thinking about nothing as you were singing because I was so immersed in the song. People will now understand the potency and power of not only Bob Marley but of Tessanne. I am proud of you," Levine opined.

For her second song, which she dedicated to her mom and dad, Tessanne performed Unconditionally by Katy Perry.

With tears in her eyes, Tessanne once again tugged at the heart strings of the viewers.

"If it doesn't show range for you to come up here and sing a Katy Perry and Bob Marley song, then I don't know what range is. You always impress me and you've never let me down," Levine said.

Blake Shelton, who had never commented on Tessanne's performance could no longer hold back and sang her praises tonight.

"You are a world class vocalist. You can sing with the best vocalists on earth ... We haven't seen anyone quite like you on the show," Shelton said.
