Man fined $25,000 for stealing gas

Larceny accused Quaine Douglas, who pleaded guilty to the theft of $7,000 worth of gas, was fined $25,000 for his effort when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

When Douglas appeared before Resident Magistrate Vaughn Smith, he said he was sorry for his action.

He was then told that crime does not pay anyone but the Government, and, with that advice, he was subsequently fined.

The court heard that the complainant parked his truck in Spanish Town. While there, Douglas was held withdrawing diesel fuel from the truck. He was subsequently charged with simple larceny.
