Alleged multimillion dollar lottery scammers arrested

Detectives attached to the Area-Three Police Division arrested and charged two persons in connection with a multimillion dollar lottery scam on Monday.

Reports are that on November 29, about 5 a.m., police went to a premises at Jerusalem Housing Scheme, Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth, which is occupied by Tafari Haddad and Denise Sutherland, where they carried out a search.

The two were taken into custody after searches revealed a book, which contains names, addresses, phone numbers and social security numbers of persons living in the United States of America were discovered among other paraphernalia during the search.

Subsequently, 19-year-old Tafari Haddad and 36-year-old Denise Sutherland both of Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth, were charged.

They have been charged for:

Possession of identity information.

Using premises to possess identity information.

Obtaining money by means of false pretence.

Conspiracy to obtaining money.

Both are to appear in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate's Court tomorrow.

Investigations continue.
