Bullet-making machine originated from Florida - Police

A bullet-making machine discovered at the Kingston Wharf on Thursday originated in Florida, the police say.

It is reported that customs officials and the police discovered the machine, as well as several components and 3,300 war heads, during checks of a container at the wharf.

On Wednesday, lawmen said the origin of the machine was traced to Florida with the assistance of overseas law enforcement entities.

According to the police, criticisms of the approach taken by officers in the case have sparked much discussion. "While the concerns are noted, we want to reassure the public that based on the circumstances and the events that unfolded at the time, the best available strategy was employed," the police said.

The police, shortly after the discovery, issued a person-of-interest notice for one Oneil Schrouder of Mandeville, Manchester, who is suspected to have information regarding the importation of the items.
