Two held for drugs get bail extension
Christopher Thomas, STAR Writer

Two St James men allegedly held with more than two pounds of cocaine in March had their bails extended to next February in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Thirty-eight-year-old Hugh Roach, 38, of Westgate Hills and Kirk Levey, 52, from Porto Bello, are charged with possession of and dealing in two pounds and 3.24 ounces of cocaine. They had their combined $1.7 million bail extended to February 12, 2014, as their case -file was still incomplete.

It is alleged that on March 6, at approximately 5:20 p.m., members of a police team on operation in Westgate Hills, saw Roach and Levey on the front patio of Roach's house.

Roach attempted to hide a plastic bag under his chair, but the bag was retrieved and found to contain a rectangular package wrapped in masking tape, which, when cut open, was found to contain a white powdery substance resembling cocaine. Both men were arrested.

Clerk of the court Orrett Brown requested more time to complete the file, although he did not indicate what documents were outstanding.

"You are both to return here on February 12. Your bails are extended," RM Tie told Roach and Levey.
