After giving the church a tongue lashing during a meeting at the Spaldings United Church, a holy-ghost filled elderly woman died in an upfront position after returning to her bench last Sunday.

Dead is Clarris Rattigan who took her last breath with her head bowed at the Clarendon church on December 1.

THE STAR was told that Rattigan appeared to be sleeping before church members realised that something was wrong and took her to the hospital.

Rattigan was taken to the Percy Junor Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

"The doctor said she died in the church because by the time she reached, her tongue changed colour to blue," a member said.

Moments before she died, the deceased had sought permission from the pastor to address members during a members meeting where she denounced certain happenings.

"She was there speaking in tongues and the Holy Ghost took her over," the church member added.

After she revealed her feelings to those in attendance, she returned to her seat and was seen motionless.

Reverend Paul Pinto described the deceased as," nice, jovial, hard-working and a very motherly person who always gave good advice."

Rattigan was in her 70s and was said to be a heart patient.

She will be laid to rest on December 19.
