Jamaican stowaway found on cargo ship with ganja

A stowaway from Jamaica was arrested on Sunday after authorities found him with an estimated four pounds (1.82 kilograms) of ganja on an inbound cargo ship at the Port of Tampa in Florida.

According to www.miamiherald.com, reports from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is that Duwayne C Hines, 23, boarded the maritime cargo vessel Dinkeldiep while in a Jamaican port without permission.

Reports are that the ship's crew notified authorities after they found the Jamaican national hiding while at sea.

THE STAR gathered that US Customs and Border Protection officials were waiting at the docks when the ship arrived.

Hines was charged with felony possession of marijuana, and an immigration hold was issued by customs officials.

He is being held at the Hillsborough County Jail, and it is unclear whether he has retained an attorney.
