Extension for alleged salt fish thief

A 30-year-old man who is accused of stealing salt fish with a street value of over $1.4 million from his employer had his bail extended in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

He is Leon Rodney from White Lane, Kingston 11.

Rodney is to return to court on December 17.

Allegations are that the accused who was employed as a meat cutter was seen on camera between September 11 and September 16, stealing the salt fish from a storage refrigerator and placing it in his water boots.

It is alleged that the accused was seen leaving his place of work on several occasions with the product without paying for them.

In court yesterday, the accused pleaded not guilty and his attorney said that his client was being accused due to the fact that he was requesting monies owed to him from his employer.
