Major drug bust at Kingston Terminal

There was another major drug bust at a terminal in Kingston bringing to two the amount of seizures made in four days by local authorities.

THE WEEKEND STAR understands that the latest find took place Wednesday evening when divers conducted a search on a vessel.

According to The Jamaica Customs Agency, cocaine worth US$1.2 million was seized in a container ship at the Kingston Container Terminal (KCT).

The seizure yielded 71 packages in three large plastic bags weighing 193.4 pounds and was undertaken using a muti-agency effort by the Jamaica Customs Agency in collaboration with the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) Coast Guard, Marine police and the Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division.

This represents the second major seizure of cocaine this week by the Customs Agency.

On Monday, 290kg or 639lb of cocaine was discovered at KCT with a street value of US$3.77m.

Jamaica Customs Agency says no arrests have been made in connection with these seizures. Investigations are ongoing.
