Man held with $130,000 worth of cocaine

A St Catherine man who was held with almost two ounces of cocaine was fined a total of $130,000 in the Linstead Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Ian McDonald, labourer of Linstead, St Catherine, pleaded guilty to possession of, dealing in and using his premises to sell cocaine.

He was fined $10,000 for possession of cocaine; $20,000 for dealing in; and $100,000 or 30 days imprisonment for using premises to sell cocaine.

He was also given nine months suspended for one year.

The court heard that on October 24, police personnel conducted a raid at the accused man's home.

During the search, several plastic packages of crack cocaine were found inside the house and also inside his motor car.

The police also found two scales along with masking tape.

He was subsequently arrested and charged by Corporal Audley Williams of the Linstead Police Station.
