Two Bermudians arrested for ganja

The St Elizabeth police on Sunday arrested two Bermudian nationals during a joint operation between members of the Area Three and the Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division, THE STAR has learnt.

Information reaching our news team is that about 1 p.m. on Sunday, the police stopped a motor vehicle with two men aboard during a routine operation in the Elim area.

During a search of the vehicle and the occupants, the cops allegedly found $200,000 and US$7,000(J$742,000) in the possession of the Bermudians.

THE STAR gathered that further searches in nearby bushes unearthed 200 pounds (90.91 kilograms) of cured compressed ganja, which is believed to have been prepared for export.

Both men were taken into custody in relation to the seizure.

When THE STAR contacted the St Elizabeth police our news team was told that official charges could be filed against the Bermudians early this week.
