A packed venue greeted Mavado and friends in concert during the 'Gully Gad's' birthday celebration at the Famous nightclub in Portmore, St Catherine, last Saturday.

Mavado, during his lengthy set where he brought on a number of guest artistes, said it was the first time in many years he has celebrated his birthday in Jamaica, and he just wanted to be with his fans this year.

Ladies at the front of the stage could not contain themselves as they held on to the dancehall megastar. When Mavado introduced Ace Hood, the American rapper, to the stage, the fans cheered in sheer delight. He obliged with his smash hit Bugatti.

Mavado sang a slew of hits, including Caribbean Girls, Settle Down, Box A Money, Weed And Hennessy, Money Changer and Clean Everyday, among others. He also called on Stacious to do their combination Come Into My Room. Stacious and disc jock, Boom Boom, shared the MC duties.

Popcaan, the former Portmore Empire lieutenant, also shared the stage with Mavado and the crowd response was good as they traded lyrics in a friendly atmosphere. Popcaan acknowledged that there was once a feud between the Gaza and Gully Side, but said it is peace time now. He also gave a 'big-up' to Vybz Kartel for introducing him to the world.

Also giving performances were Laden, Benji Hype, Chino, Steve McGregor, Assassin aka Agent Sasco, Ding Dong, Jah Vinci, Beenie Man, New Kidz, and Jah Cure.

After the live performance which concluded about 5:30 a.m., Mavado and his friend Ace Hood and their entourages stayed back to meet some of the fans and pose for photos.
