Strong radio support for Ibo Fire's 'Hungry Days'

Ibo Fire

Newcomer Ibo Fire has struck a chord with his latest single Hungry Days. The haunting track is featured on the Jamrock rhythm project from 12 to 12 Muzik.

A number of radio jocks and selectors have thrown their weight behind the song, which was produced by Paul Mullings and Carlton 'Krushproof' Music.

They include Fame FM's DJ Sanjay; DJ Wiz Kid; Kurt Riley, who was the first to have played the song during his 'Fus Play' segment; and DJ Nicco. DJ Smurf, DJ Wayne, and Big A are the jocks from Irie FM who have been giving solid support.

Over at Portmore-based Suncity Radio, Sunjocks Nero, JJ Wizzle, and Krazy Dean have given the song their blessing.

Outside of Jamaica, DJ Baby Ace from California-based Internet radio Live 365 has spun the track on multiple occasions, while in local dancehall circles, DJ Liquid, Stone Love, Fire Links, Jamrock, and Bumpy Cash are among the sound systems and disc jocks who have endorsed Hungry Days.

high food prices

According to Ibo Fire, the song was influenced by day-to-day happenings. "The high food prices, people who cannot afford to purchase basic food items and those feeling the economical pinch, those situations are what influenced me to write Hungry Days," Ibo Fire explained.

The 32-year-old, whose real name is Livian Farquharson, is originally from Crofts Hill, Clarendon. He currently resides in the Waltham Park area of Kingston 11.

"I was ripping up a stage show in Point Hill, and because I was using the name Bobo Fyah, I was told to change the name to Ibo Fire because of the musical blaze that was burning," he said.

Ibo Fire has been doing music for a while. The recording opportunities were limited, but he got his first shot at a professional gig when he met Paul Mullings of 12 to 12 Muzik.

"Is Paul give me the first chance at recording. Since then, I have recorded songs such as Holding On, Overcome, and Shingling Sound," he said.

"Positive, uplifting music and righteousness is what I am bringing to the music right now," said Ibo.

Ibo Fire is inspired by artistes including Sizzla, Garnet Silk, Dennis Brown, and Bob Marley.
