Accused thieves will spend Christmas in jail

Two females accused of robbing another woman of $5,000 will spend their Christmas behind bars as they were remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

They are Joy Campbell, 47, businesswoman, and 32-year-old Denique Greaves, higgler, from Bull Bay, St Andrew. They are charged with robbery with aggravation.

They will be tried on January 7.

Allegations are that the complainant was purchasing some goods along Orange Street, Kingston, when she was approached by one of the women.

snatched purse

It is alleged that the complainant had a $1,000 bill in her hand when one of them grabbed the money and said, "Spin da card yah and you get back your $1,000."

The court heard that the complainant refused and was asking for her money when the other female went behind her and snatched $4,000 from her purse.

The complainant reported the matter to the Darling Street police and Campbell and Greaves were subsequently pointed out and arrested.
