Orisha Sound

International reggae/dancehall artiste Orisha Sound has had a wonderful year in music and is looking forward to even more success in 2014.

Earlier this year, her hit single titled Embrace It, featuring Sizzla, soared to the top of several local and international reggae/dancehall charts. The accompanying music video for the song also topped a number of local video charts, including the Hit List Dancehall Chart on CVM TV and HYPE TV's VTX Countdown.

"I've been in Jamaica for a while now. The people here are very cool and friendly. They love my music because my sound is familiar to them, even though my style is new and different. I really love being here. the vibes is very nice; it helps to boost my creativity. This is such a beautiful place."

Orisha's latest single titled Sunshine Lady, featuring Wayne Daniels, is currently enjoying much attention on the local and international airwaves.

"This song is getting a lot of support and the video for it is also doing well. I am very happy about the way the fans are reacting to it, too. Just last two weeks I did over 30 interviews internationally, including WXAC, CBS, Erie radio stations," she said.

The talented singer-musician, who grew up in Russia, where she learned to play over 15 different instruments, has fallen in love with Jamaica.

"This is my base now. Jamaica is my new home. My band is also from here and we are based in Kingston. I grew up listening and singing reggae in Europe, and as a child, didn't even know where reggae music came from. But as I grew up, I studied the music and learned about Jamaica. I love it here. Since I've been living in Jamaica, I have learned a lot more about reggae and dancehall music. I love the culture here. It's so rich and colourful," she said.

Orisha is currently preparing for the release of her sophomore album, which is set for early 2014.

"I will be releasing a new album next year. It's going to be different from my debut album. The first album, Cupid, was a collection of songs I did over a period of time. It featured many different styles such as hip hop, reggae, dancehall, and urban European style. The new album will be straight reggae and dancehall, all live instruments."

Orisha is currently promoting a new single called World War 3, featuring King of the Dancehall Beenie Man. The video for the song was filmed in Waltham Park, Steven Lane in Kingston, and downtown Los Angles (USA). It is set to be released in the first week of January.
