Portmore Lions Club hosts carol service

The Portmore Lions Club held its annual Christmas carol service at the Portmore Lions Civic Centre in Edgewater recently. The event featured the Jamaica Constabulary Force Band with performances from various groups from schools, churches, the Waterford Senior Citizens Club, and individuals.

According to Theresa Carter-Hall, president of the club: "This annual event marks the start of our Christmas projects which will see us distributing over 250 food packages to the elderly in various communities as well as a children's treat to be held in one of the more needy communities."

She added: "These projects would not have been possible without corporate contributions, including Jamaica Money Market Brokers, GARCO Construction, Empathy Funeral Services, Tastee, MegaMart, Food For The Poor, Caribbean Products, GraceKennedy Limited, Mussons, Macaroni Factory, and Mount Royal Developments as well as various individual donations."

Carter-Hall is also grateful for the support from her colleagues. "Lion members, I thank everyone who contributed to this important work. You are truly helping Lions make a difference in our community."

The Portmore Lions Club has 25 members and meets on the first and third Mondays of every month at 7 p.m. at the civic centre.

Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
