Sizzla Kalonji main act for Fuzed

The format of the Fuzed live series of shows seems to have caught the active imagination of the reggae-loving public. The second edition of the eclectic music series was energised by the presence and main act Sizzla Kalonji, the Grammy-nominated act and black activist and he did not disappoint.

The tone was set for a wonderful night of entertainment by opening acts like Phylea (an integral part of the Fuzed band) who performed renditions of her favourite songs from Sizzla's catalogue.. Again the audience, which consisted of music enthusiasts and several like-minded individuals, was entertained by the songs which helped create a heart-warming sense of togetherness on Christmas Eve.

greatest hits

The second performance came from LOPO, lead singer and rapper front man for Acmatic (local indie band), whose song selections complimented the theme of Fuzed as he recited, rapped, and rocked a medley of Sizzla's greatest hits. Sizzla, himself, applauded the young artiste on his presentation.

After that, cometh the hour, cometh the man, and Sizzla hosted a live Q&A session where he gave his thoughts on a myriad of issues such as unity, poverty, culture and education, and set out to explain the impact of these issues on the daily lives of Jamaicans.

six tracks

He ended the show on a high and a lively performance backed by tracks. He started off a capella then segued into six tracks that ignited the audience, and had the bistro buzzing.

The second edition was a success and again looking forward to seeing what Team Push A Yute is going to pull off for the next Fuzed. The Red Bull Music Academy must be applauded for its efforts to sustain the indigenous music and artforms of the island.

Host Vivian Thomas comm-ented:"It's fair to say Fuzed is like no other show, and it's the only medium delivering music, culture, and education all in a monthly show."
