Man robs pregnant woman in Linstead

An investigation is under way to find out who is responsible for a daylight robbery in the St Catherine South Police Division.

The incident left persons in awe as a man grabbed a bag of cash and fled in Linstead, St Catherine, on Monday. The Star was informed that the incident occurred shortly after 9 a.m.

"Mi ongle hear when di chiney woman say 'ooh' and si di man a tear dung di road like lightning, from him turn dung di hill him just disappear," a bystander said.

It was revealed that the victim, who is in an advanced stage of pregnancy, stepped out of her business establishment whern the fleet-footed thief reportedly walked up to her, grabbed the bag and ran through the busy street.

Persons said it is someone who knew his way around the busy town as the area was filled with shoppers.

"This is a brave person, as the police just past when him tief the bag," a motorist said.

Meanwhile, police personnel continue to increase their presence in the township which remained incident free over the festive season.
