First 2014 murder reported in St James

The western parish of St James recorded the first homicide for 2014, yesterday morning, THE WEEKEND STAR understands.

Information reaching our news team is that 45-year-old David Allen from Lilliput was apparently killed because of a current flare-up of violence in the parish caused by feuding thugs.

Allen was reportedly a strongman from Canterbury.

According to the police, at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Allen was standing when he was approached by two men who shot him repeatedly.

He succumbed to his injuries at hospital.

THE WEEKEND STAR gathered that l66 murders were recorded last year in St James up from 153 in 2012.
