Three arrested for harbouring a fugitive
André Williams, STAR Writer

Following the death of one of Westmoreland's most wanted, Torneil 'Malta' Haughton on Tuesday, the police have arrested and charged three persons for harbouring a fugitive.

THE WEEKEND STAR understands that a male and two females were residing at the premises where Haughton, the leader of the Westmoreland-based Alma gang, was shot dead by the police.

Our news team gathered that they were charged immediately after Haughton was killed.

Haughton, who sources confirm had sight from only one eye, was listed as the parish's most wanted, and had been eluding the police for sometime.

He was killed when he allegedly confronted the police at premises in the community of Big Bridge.

Since October last year the Westmoreland police, through the Operation Resilience effort, have carried out several operations aimed at dismantling the Alma gang which was linked to over a dozen murders in the parish.
