A 75-year-old man who allegedly touched an 11-year-old girl on her private area was granted bail in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court.

The man was offered bail following a successful application by his lawyer Zavia Mayne.

Maye told the court that his client was a victim of circumstances. He said it was because he had reprimanded the complainant for behaving rudely with boys why she reported that his client touched her.

Bail was subsequently granted in sum of $85,000 on condition that the accused avoid the complainant.

He is also to live elsewhere for the duration of the case and report to the Spanish Town police twice weekly.

On December 17, the complainant went to get 'tea' bush at the senior citizen's yard. While there, he reportedly touched her and the child related the ordeal to her parents. A report was made to the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse.

An investigation was launched and he was charged with sexual touching. The matter is scheduled to be mentioned on April 1.
