Two remanded for ganja possession
Two men who were nabbed at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) for being in possession of ganja were remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court until Friday as police verify their addresses.

Charged with possession of, conspiracy to export, dealing in and taking steps to export ganja is Omar Edwards and Haitian-born Racky Rhoden.

The Crown alleges that on December 30 at the NMIA, Rhoden was attempting to board an Interstel flight destined for Curacao, purporting that he was travelling to the Caribbean island for medical reasons.

confined to wheelchair

Rhoden, who claimed to have suffered injury during an accident months ago, was confined to a motorised wheelchair and needed the help of Edwards to push him around. While at the airport, Rhoden's luggage was searched by the police, but nothing incriminating was discovered.

The wheelchair was then searched and 11 plastic parcels, allegedly containing vegetable matter, were discovered. Both men were subsequently arrested and charged.

The men are to return to court on Friday, at which point it is expected that the police will produce an address for the accused.
