Court hears that ... Man beats babymother's girlfriend!

A man was hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's (RM) Court on Wednesday, after he was involved in a heated altercation with a woman, who is alleged to be fighting him for his babymother.

Sydonie Thomas is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

The court heard that on the day of the incident, the accused man gained entrance into the apartment of the female complainant and began inflicting blows upon her.

He told Senior RM Judith Pusey that the female complainant had been fighting him over his babymother, who is six months pregnant for him. He further told the RM that the complainant tattooed the name of his babymother on her neck.

This generated snickers within the court. The RM then asked if the tattooing was true to which the woman affirmed.

"Me and the girl together before him even meet the girl," the female complainant said to the RM. Thomas in an attempt to justify the assault stated, "She thinks she a man."

Thomas was then ordered to pay $15,000 or serve six months' imprisonment.
