Stop order for British national after alleged assault

A British national had a stop order made against him when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday, after he allegedly assaulted his Jamaican wife.

Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm is 52-year-old Andrew Burns of a United Kingdom address.

It is alleged that on November 22 at around 12 PM, Burns and his 20-year-old wife were engaged in an argument when he pushed her on the bed when she felt her leg twist and heard her bone pop, which resulted in her injuring her leg.

According to the complainant, it was not the first time he laid hands on her and, has hit her on several occasions.

Burns, who was booked to leave the island today, had to surrender his travel documents and is to return to court on February 17.
